Music Therapy

Music therapy is an evidence-based allied health profession that uses the clinical applications of music to meet individualized non-musical goals. These goals could be physical, cognitive, emotional, or social.

Learning Through Music

At Koala Academy our music therapists involve our children in singing, listening, moving, playing, and in creative activities that help them become better learners. Our music therapists work on developing your child's self-awareness, confidence, readiness skills, coping skills, and social behavior and may also provide pain management techniques.

Improve Social & Coping Skills

Music therapy is used to aid in physical discomfort by improving respiration, lowering blood pressure, improved cardiac output, reduced heart rate and relaxed muscle tension. For mental health, this form of therapy is great for reducing stress' common negative side effects, such as emotional and behavioral problems.

Music Therapy Results

One of the reasons that music has quickly become a tool used in autism therapy is that it can stimulate both hemispheres of our brain, rather than just one. This means that a music therapist can use a song or instrument to support cognitive activity so that we can build self-awareness and improve relationships with others. Music encourages communicative behavior and can encourage interaction with others, which is something that autistic children have great difficulty with.

Reduce Sensory Sensitivity

Gently increase tolerance for everyday sensations and experience greater comfort and joy.

Improve Motor Skills

Rehabilitate After Injury Or Illness

See improvements in cognitive abilities, speech, physical functioning, mood, and more.
